ABOUT

My passion is handcrafting artisan leather goods that tell a timeless story. After seeing a leather bracelet that I fell in love with I began creating + designing unique and individual pieces for myself + eventually began creating custom pieces for others.

I love imperfect leather pieces hand cut and conditioned to bring out the natural tones. I begin with a full veg-tanned leather hide and cut and strap for a variety of pieces, belts, key fobs, luggage tags and the veg-tanned earrings and I work with a variety of other leathers for specialty earrings or one-of-a-kind items.

Living in Midwest Michigan, I am inspired by my love for all that is natural, slightly imperfect and moody. I love music, nature and have a love for bees and what they offer us and have become a beekeeper of a small apiary. Working in the fashion industry for over 24 years as a optical frame rep selling top designer names I enjoy creating + designing my own pieces.

My dream of a workshop came true when I added graphic apparel to the mix and more space was needed. I love old graphic tees or an oversized sweatshirt with words on it. I began with coffee tees to fill the shelves of a local coffee shop, Hub Coffee Co., and the collection of graphics has grown from there.

AF Design was born out of a passion for the individuality we seek, both in our accessories and our apparel.
